Quotes | Julie C – Client’s Mum

Julie C – Client’s Mum

” It was suggested that we look at a Safety Pod from my son’s learning disability nurse. Due to the aggressive behaviours and head banging on the floor, we were having to physically restrain him which wasn’t good for any of us. My son has autism with PDA so we didn’t want the safe pod to become a demand and he wouldn’t use it. The staff were excellent about talking to me about which size to order and that they did a bespoke design which my son could see and choose as part of the process helped a lot. “

The Safety Pod has given my son a place to feel safe, but also to enjoy every day as his chair, he even has a nap occasionally. There is no need currently to be holding him on the floor, it’s less hands on for us all and allows him to have time to himself safely without throwing things as he stays in the pod. Even if he won’t go on it I can use it to give distance between us and restrict the area he is as it’s soft. From a carer perspective it helps a lot and has given us some confidence to support our son safely and he seems happy with it which reduces our stress and gives us all hope.
