Project
Empowering young minds through co-design
This programme has been created to actively engage children in the design of their learning environment through the creation of therapeutic Pods. Incorporating art therapy techniques, it has been designed to explore emotions and investigate how these can be communicated through colour, texture and illustration to support moments of unease. It promotes the concept that our environment plays a crucial role in how our minds and bodies feel, modelling how as experts, children can play a lead role in that process.

4-Part Design Unit: Created to engage and inspire
The project launches with a ‘Message from the Inventor’ (Palkesh D Crawford: Inventor of The Safety Pod) who personally introduces the challenge. The project will then work through a 4-part design process
Research: Art therapy-based exercises to explore emotions and how they present in the mind and body.
Plan: Pupils select a focus for their design and guided by our manufacturing lead, begin to build a mood board of inspiration.
Design: Pupils explore the technical components and pattern of a Pod and use their mood boards to create a final design.
Present: The option to create a presentation to share final designs will be offered to pupils with the option to present to the inventor in person with a guided tour of our manufacturing facility. Educational visits to Safety Pod International HQ and Factory can be arranged via our Educational Director, who will share further details on enquiry.
On selecting this project, you will be invited to attend an initial consultation call with our Education Director who will provide lesson plans, resources and offer close support and guidance throughout your Architect Project journey. Once pupils have reached the final stage of the process and designs have been submitted, manufacturing will then begin and an estimated delivery window scheduled.

Testimonials
“The ethos behind the project aligned perfectly with what we stand for. We’re working hard to become a trauma- and attachment-informed school, and we’re in the process of opening a SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) base provision, so engaging with this project was a very easy yes!” Green Lane Primary Academy
